About Me…

Who am I? I am an online marketer who has worked in the technology space for over a decade. I am addictive to new technology and cannot do without my Macbook or my iPhone. I am currently at Due North Communications creating experiential catalysts for word of mouth influence. Previous experiences include Isobar NA, Yahoo! Overlay.TV, Citibank, CIBC, Ogilvy and Rapp Collins. I have views on advertising, emerging technology including video, and social web applications. I’m living and breathing in the social web space and cannot consume as quickly as this space evolves. I follow politics, environmental initiatives, and music (mainly the old stuff pre 1990).
Some quick notes about me: Marketer… Cellist…US Politics watcher…Twitterer, Yoga-er??!… Fave coffee: Tall Non-fat Caramel Macchiato – Starbucks…Michael Jackson fan…Jeffery Deaver fanatic….sap for human interest stories..Rubik’s cubist…dabbled in pointillism… interest in caricatures and nude painting…can say the alphabet backwords…know most world capitals… hockey and soccer mom…

Hi Hessie,
I was looking at some Canada Post Venture SOHO schedule and came accross your name. I think we worked together years ago, I think when you and I were at O&M. Perhaps you remember? I think we bumped into each other again when I was at Mosaic Direct working with Scott Pinkney. Anyway, it would be lovely to connect again. I’m on Linked in as well or we can connect personally. Look forward to hearing from you soon.
cheers karima
Hi Hessie,
Just wanted to tell you that I really like your posts and you are very intelligent in communicating your views on anything from politics to coffee haha.
I have tried to find your e mail address to invite you to something that may peek your interest.
I would like to invite you to an event that your company would have interest in. Kris Martin is an aspiring race car driver, and while that may or may not be of interest to you Kris will be testing some new technology. Kris was born deaf and has hearing via a cochlear implant. Phonak Hearing Systems is doing some testing on Kris to provide a communication device to assist Kris to communicate with his crew chief, pit crew, etc. CTV will be there to cover the event. We would love for you or a representative from your company to come out and see Kris in action! I am happy to answer any further questions you have regarding the event or Kris himself.
Sincerely,
Michael Scorcia

Hi Hessie,
I’m writing in response to your article titled, ‘Cyber-Bullying Hits Home.’ Very insightful piece and it’s sad but obvious that kids today are prone to online attacks. While many schools are taking a step in the right direction, many parents are still unclear about what they can do to help their kids. Which is why while 83% parents claim to are very concerned about their child’s online security only 30% report visiting their child’s social media profiles.
Would you be interested in speaking with Michael Kaiser, executive director of the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) and Carol Carpenter, executive general manager of the consumer business unit at Trend Micro, who can offer tips to parents on how to deal with kids who are susceptible to online attacks.
Proof points:
- According to the Cyberbullying Research Center, almost 21 percent of American youth between the ages of 10 and 18 have been the target of some form of virtual harassment or “cyber-bullying.”
- According to the 2011 Consumer Report – 20 million kids used Facebook over the last year. Of that, 7.5 million were younger than 13. The social-networking site’s own rules prohibit users that young. Clearly an indication that kids are at a high risk of online threats.
WHY NOW?: This holiday season, 85 percent of youths ages 12 to 17 want some kind of consumer electronic gadget, from music players to laptops, according to the Consumer Electronics Association.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Many Thanks,
Jyotsna
